Mokena Educational Foundation

 

Public education is in a crisis.  Cuts in national and state funding have caused educational programs to be severely slashed.  

The goal of MEF is to ensure the continuation of academic initiatives,  programs and services that propel the students of Mokena School District 159. 
$12,500 for Collaborative Learning Centers
$35,000 for Computer Equipment
$20,000 for Computer Lab Equipment
$7,900 for Classroom LCD Projectors
$6,000 toward playground equipment
$3,500 for ConnectEd Parent/School Communication

MEF annually distributes scholarships in the community.  More than $18,000 in scholarships have been awarded to Lincoln Way East college bound seniors and over $6,000 in 8th Grade Washington DC Scholarships.

The Mokena Educational Foundation (MEF) was founded in 1996 to serve as a vehicle for soliciting, receiving and distributing gifts, grants and bequests of money, property or services to enhance and enrich programs, activities and facilities for the benefit of the students of Mokena School District 159. 

MEF is a nonprofit 501© 3 organization. 

MEF awards a $12,500 matching grant, alongside the Timken Foundation, toward Collaborative Learning Centers in the Mokena schools  

MEF awards Washington D.C. Scholarships to four 8th graders at Mokena Junior High  

MEF awards three scholarships to Lincoln Way East college bound seniors at LWE Annual Awards Night
